Empower 2024: Celebrating Women's Journey to Success

Despite the rain outside, the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans was abuzz with energy on Wednesday, April 10, as business leaders, students, mentors, and inspiring speakers came together to celebrate and empower women in our community. JA is thrilled to share the highlights of our recent event, Empower 2024: Mentorship, Power, & Prosperity: A Woman’s Journey, presented by Peoples Health and United Healthcare.

This year marked our 5th Empower event, which focused on guiding women towards self-fulfillment, balance, and intentional living in both personal and professional realms. Sponsored by Peoples Health and United Healthcare, Empower 2024 showcased the resilience and strength of women, encouraging attendees to network, learn, and grow.

The morning began with an inspiring interview featuring Reva Sus, winner of the Trust Your Crazy Ideas Challenge and a junior at Ben Franklin High School. Keynote speakers Brandi D. Christian, President & CEO of Port of New Orleans and Liz Hefler, Greater New Orleans Market President of Hancock Whitney, shared their experiences and insights on prosperity and mentorship.

The highlight of the event was a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Emmy-winning journalist Sula Kim of WDSU. Panelists included Allison Shapiro Dandry (Director of Philanthropy, Krispy Krunchy Foods, LLC), Judge Hans Liljeberg (Jefferson Parish Council Member), Mayra Pineda (President & CEO, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce), and Sevetri Wilson (Founder, Resilia). The engaging discourse explored leadership, empowerment, and the importance of community support.

The breakfast concluded with a challenging keynote address from Alanah Odoms, Executive Director of ACLU Louisiana, emphasizing the transformative role of love in power.

Junior Achievement extends heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, speakers, panelists, mentors, and attendees who made Empower 2024 such a resounding success. Together, we continue to empower and uplift women in our community, fostering a brighter future for all.

Stay tuned for more empowering events and initiatives from Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans. Let's continue to mentor, empower, and inspire!
