Cheer Us On: JA & Elevate HTM Named Collective Impact Finalists
Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans is excited to partner with Elevate HTM as a finalist in the Northshore Collective Impact Challenge, hosted by the Northshore Community Foundation on Tuesday, September 29, from 5:30–8:30 p.m. at Tchefuncta Country Club. The evening will bring together community leaders, philanthropists, and nonprofit innovators to hear collaborative ideas for creating lasting impact across the Northshore.
And we would love to have our JA supporters there cheering us on.
Our pitch is centered on a simple idea: the Northshore has already built tremendous educational and workforce infrastructure. The opportunity now is to help more young people connect what they are learning in school to the careers, industries, and people around them.
Schools build skills and pathways. Employers provide careers and context. JA helps connect the two.
Through career-connected learning, JA can bring employers and professionals directly into students’ experiences through career speakers, workplace visits, job shadowing, mock interviews, and other opportunities that help young people understand not only what careers exist, but how they can get there. Just as importantly, JA can help coordinate those relationships, so educators do not have to build an employer network school by school.
That is where partners like Elevate HTM make the model especially powerful. Elevate introduces students to Healthcare Technology Management, a healthcare career field many young people may never encounter otherwise, and creates a pathway from early exposure through mentorship, career preparation, training, and workforce opportunities. Together, JA, Elevate, and other industry partners can help students build connections to real people and real careers while strengthening the Northshore’s future workforce.
Our vision is not to replace what schools are already doing well. It is to deepen it in St. Tammany, accelerate it in Tangipahoa, and expand access in Washington Parish, meeting schools where they are and connecting students to opportunities across the region.
The Northshore Collective Impact Challenge will award the selected collaborative team an initial investment of $75,000, with the potential for up to $150,000 over three years. We are proud to have the opportunity to make the case for investing in the connections between Northshore students, schools, and employers.
