Ruth W. Lawson has served as President of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce since December 2021, following a nationwide executive search. A Gretna, Louisiana resident, Lawson was selected from over 100 candidates to lead the award-winning organization, where she has driven record membership, revenue growth, and influence across the Greater New Orleans region. Under her leadership, the Chamber renewed its elite 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was named Large Chamber of the Year by LACCE in 2023 and 2025.

Lawson’s career spans both public service and private enterprise. She previously directed the Jefferson Parish Finance Authority, served as Senior Parish Attorney and Chief Administrative Assistant in parish government, and worked as corporate counsel at Barriere Construction Company. An LSU Law graduate, she also co-owns a Smoothie King franchise in Gretna. Recognized as a civic leader, Lawson holds numerous regional and state appointments and is honored to be named as a 2025 Rising Star by Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans.
