JP Morgan Chase Volunteers Inspire Future Leaders at JA BizTown

The moment the doors opened at JA BizTown on May 15, students from Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School jumped into action, clocking in for work, making business decisions, and navigating the fast-paced world of their simulated economy. As sixteen volunteers from JPMorgan Chase guided and encouraged them throughout the day, they witnessed something powerful: students beginning to see themselves differently.

Inside JA BizTown, students stepped into adult roles for the day by running businesses and learning how teamwork and communication shape a successful workplace. For many students, the experience offered something even more important: the opportunity to see themselves in spaces and careers they may never have imagined before.

As volunteers worked alongside students throughout the simulation, they witnessed firsthand the confidence young people can build when they are trusted with responsibility and encouraged to lead. Students who began the day found their voices as CEOs, CFOs, and marketing leaders, and it was inspiring to watch them problem-solve, collaborate, and encourage one another.

Special thanks go to Kelsey Box Marten, a member of Junior Achievement’s Young Professional Board, for helping organize the volunteer day.

“JA BizTown is the kind of program that changes trajectories,” said Kelsey Box Marten. “These students aren't just learning about money and business — they're learning to believe in themselves. Being part of that for even one day felt like a real privilege.”

Junior Achievement also extends sincere appreciation to the Kiwanis Club of Tri Parishes for supporting JA BizTown experiences for all fifth-grade students in St. John Parish. Their commitment helps ensure students across the parish have access to hands-on experiences that connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities and future careers.

By the close of the day, students left JA BizTown with new confidence and excitement about their futures, while volunteers left with a renewed sense of optimism about the next generation of leaders in our region.
