Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans will provide:
• Teacher and student curriculum materials prior to the visit to Junior Achievement BizTown.
• JA in-class assistance and consultation, as available.
• All materials for the visit to Junior Achievement BizTown.
• Teacher training sessions (dates to be determined).
• Ongoing support to teachers, as needed.
• Staff assistance and facilitation during the visit to Junior Achievement BizTown. JA staff members will first seek the assistance of supervising teachers to help with any discipline problems. If behavior does not improve, JA staff members may request that a student be removed from Junior Achievement BizTown, and an attending teacher will be responsible for that student’s removal to a safe area (e.g., school bus, hallway, etc.) and his/her supervision during the remainder of the day.
Teachers agree to:
• Attend a teacher training session and assume responsibility for providing substitute teachers, if necessary, on that date.
• Use the JA BizTown curriculum and materials with the understanding that they are the sole property of Junior Achievement and may not be shared, given away, copied, or in any way distributed or used by any party other than the person(s) who has signed the Program Agreement.
• Return to the local JA office the JA BizTown Guide for Teachers and materials if the teacher (or school) discontinues teaching the program for any reason.
• Prepare students for the visit to JA BizTown using curriculum materials provided by Junior Achievement. (If a JA staff member, 48 hours prior to the scheduled date, determines that students are not adequately prepared to successfully participate in JA BizTown visit, JA reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule the visit.)
• Assist Junior Achievement with the recruitment of adult volunteers for the visit to Junior Achievement BizTown (minimum of 1 adult volunteers per 10 students).
• Notify students, parents, and adult volunteers of the date and time of the visit to Junior Achievement BizTown.
• Set the school’s arrival and departure times for the visit to Junior Achievement BizTown (allow 4 hours at the site).
• Arrange student transportation for the visit to Junior Achievement BizTown.
• Remind students and enforce that the behavioral expectations and consequences that apply while on school property also apply when students are in the Junior Achievement BizTown facility.
• Assist with students on the day of the visit.
• Student, teachers and volunteers will need to bring their own lunch.
Principal agrees to:
• Ensure the teacher completes the manditory lessons and activities with the students prior to the visit to the facility.
• Encourage teachers to require and enforce the same behavioral expectations and consequences while students are at Junior Achievement BizTown that apply while on school property.
• Acknowledge that JA has the right to enforce a probation period, if necessary, for schools whose teachers do not enforce appropriate behavior while on JA property. Such action may jeopardize the school’s participation in future JA programs.
• Assume responsibility on behalf of the school for intentional damage done to JA property by students at Junior Achievement BizTown.
• Support teachers in their efforts to fulfill the conditions of this agreement.
• Ensure payment to Junior Achievement upon reciept of invoice.
