Junior Achievement has been promoting business education since 1919, first through an after-school secondary program, and later through in-school partnerships with educators. The cumulative impact on students is currently nearly 80 million, and it’s growing. The impact is measurable, too. According to independent evaluators, students who participate in Junior Achievement programs demonstrate a significant understanding of economics and business concepts, particularly those who participate in programs at consecutive grade levels.
Junior Achievement programs are correlated to the November, 2005 Louisiana Content Standards for Social Studies, English Language Arts and Mathematics for grades K-12.
We talk a lot about helping students understand the importance of entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness. But what kind of impact can possession of these skills have on your life? Think about it. What are you going to be when you grow up? How much education will you need to pull it off? Where are you going to live? What are you going to drive? How much will all of it cost you? What about your credit? These questions are part of all the serious stuff you need to ask yourself.
