Junior Achievement Inspires and Prepares Young People
to Successfully Participate in Our Economy through
Workforce Development, Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy

Capital One/Junior Achievement Finance Park is one of the most innovative and effective financial education programs available.  Our community was fortunate to host Capital One/Junior Achievement Finance Park once again in 2010.  Numerous area schools participated this year, and we are looking forward to a major announcement regarding the program in October 2010 which will allow us to serve students in Capital One/Junior Achievement Finance Park in 2011.  More than 2,700 students from 23 schools worked with 400 volunteers to build their understanding of personal finance and adult responsibilities this semester through this one of a kind experiential learning program!

JA BizTown is a multi-disciplinary curriculum and hands-on education experience for 5th & 6th grade students.  After completing lessons on free enterprise, citizenship, financial literacy, and business management that have been incorporated into the core curricula of math, language arts and social studies for Grade Level Expectations, students participate in a day-long site simulation at JA’s own “kid city” – JA BizTown.   At JA BizTown students run their own businesses – and the whole show.  JA reached 1,000 students from 13 schools and 6 parishes during the 2009-2010 school year and we look forward to reaching more students in 2010-2011.   Click here for photos from JA BizTown
