Volunteers from the LCPA and Local Businesses Make Statewide JA Day a Success

Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (LCPA) members took place in a massive statewide initiative with Junior Achievement (JA) on Wednesday April 30th, 2008, and other businesses and individuals were invited to participate, regardless of membership to the LCPA.  JA Day has been the LCPA's final hoorah at the end of the nationwide Financial Literacy Month.  Nearly all the students in ten schools in New Orleans, Jefferson Parish, Houma, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles and Shreveport benefited from JA programs as all chapters of the LCPA and all offices of JA worked closely together to orchestrate this great event.  Find out more about the LCPA's committment to JA at: http://www.lcpa.org/ja.htmlRead LCPA's summary of the event.

“I was truly impacted by the eagerness of the students to participate and the challenge of stimulating the less eager students to share their thoughts about the topics being presented.”  Jodie Arceneaux

“It was an equally challenging and rewarding experience to observe the students’ awareness and impressions of the functions of local businesses, government, and other institutions.”  Renee Johnson

“I enjoy the different personalities of the young kids.  They always teach me something before the day is over.”  Tommie Vassel

“The students were so engaging and enthusiastic.  I left with a wonderful feeling of having spent the day with some strong candidates for good productive citizens and a strong respect for the teachers who spend their lives working with these young minds.”  Beverly Nichols
